Tropical Africa

About 60 metres past the glasshouse complex are specimens of trees native to the more tropical areas of Africa. The very tall Bismarckia Palm stands out, but look also for the Sausage tree with its bulbous dangling seed pods, and the familiar African Tulip Tree.

In 2010 a talented local artists, Karen Barker, designed and made a beautiful mosaic of Strelitzia regnans, which has been set into the path behind Tropical Africa. (To view this mosaic walk along the path behind the glasshouses next to the open grassy area).
